Annual traditions draw guests back year after year with the same power that the
moon draws the tide at Gulf Shores. Two of our favorites are Mardi Gras and the
National Shrimp Festival. Each winter, Mardi Gras transforms the beachfront
routes into a South American Carnivale scene with mythical creatures, gods and goddesses,
crowds cheering and paraders throwing beads, doubloons and moon pies. The National
Shrimp Festival in October Is a more laid-back event, but hardly shrimpy in scale.
No matter what time of year you visit, try popular attractions like these:
- Waterville, USA—this aquatic-themed park has kept itself new year after year with
rides like the FlowRider and 60-foot-drop Screamin’ Demon.
- Sweet Home Farms—Amid the fast pace of most attractions, a tour of this artisanal
dairy farm is luxuriously slow—and delicious. Traditional cheese makers offer a
tour and sampling.
- Putt-putt—Adventure Island, Pirate Island and Zooland Mini Golf all vie for vacation
time.
